HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – July 18, 2024

In an effort to promote safe mobility awareness among young adults and university students aged 18-25 in Ho Chi Minh City, AIP Foundation recently organized an engaging workshop as part of the Heads Up! program. The workshop, held today in District 2, offered participants a unique opportunity to enhance their understanding of helmet usage through interactive activities and creative expression. Students who attended the workshop received a quality helmet.

Led by a local artist skilled in helmet decoration, the workshop encouraged participants to personalize their helmets, blending safety with style. “This event isn’t just about wearing helmets; it’s about making a statement with safety,” remarked Nga Duong, Program Manager, at AIP Foundation.

“My goal in leading the workshop was to ensure that everyone would enjoy the process of decorating their helmets. I focused on getting charms, stickers, stencils, and pens to draw on the helmets. It is important to find different themes that fit with everyone, ranging from cute to urban,” shared Hoang Duc Nguyen, Designer and Artist from Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to hands-on helmet decoration, the workshop included games and informative sessions on safe mobility. These addressed common misconceptions and stressed the importance of choosing high-quality helmets. The Heads Up! program, currently in its second phase, aims to challenge perceptions that helmets compromise appearance.

“One of the main barriers young people face in wearing helmets is concern over their appearance,” explained Mirjam Sidik, Chief Executive Officer at AIP Foundation. “Through our ‘Helmets are #my_choice’ campaign, we empower them to see helmets as a reflection of their personal style and safety.”

Participants enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to customize their helmets, expressing their personalities and preferences through creative designs. The event fostered a sense of ownership and confidence in wearing helmets.

“The workshop today exceeded my expectations! The helmet is an inspirational product. It’s very pretty, and I will wear it every day. Through the games we played together, I also learned some new terms and regulations about road safety,” shared Thuy Ngoc Nguyen, a participant of the workshop.
