Position Profile

The Thailand Country Manager is based in the Bangkok office, Thailand, reports directly to the AIP Foundation Thailand Board of Directors, and is directly supervised by the CEO of AIP Foundation. The responsibilities listed below are inclusive, but not exhaustive, of the role. It is reasonable to assume that additional tasks will be requested, as and when needed.


This role will be appraised by the AIP Foundation Thailand Board of Directors.

Point person for:

AIP Foundation Thailand Overall & Strategy, People Management & HR, Financial Management, Program Cycle Duties, Fundraising, Stakeholder relationships & advocacy and Public Representation.



Overall & Strategy

Assist to develop long-term strategic goals and strategies consistent with the mission and capabilities of AIP Foundation; Foster strong relationship with AIP Foundation Thailand Board; comply with Board resolutions and decisions;

Build awareness and raise the profile of AIP Foundation Thailand; promote communication of road safety issues and AIP Foundation’s accomplishments to the public;

Assess and respond to a changing external environment;

Serve as liaison to various government and non -government (NGO) agencies and coordinate cooperative activities with other NGOs and local and national governmental agencies;

Serve as key contact with funding sources and provide follow-up reports as needed;

Ensure legal compliance in all areas (NGO registration, tax, AIP Foundation Thailand constitution, health and safety, insurance, contractual agreements and internal requirements);

Deliver country monthly report to CEO and Board;

People Management & HR

Consult with HR Director to coach employee(s) to develop coherent, strategic work plans; effectively implement planning and review systems to ensure delivery against plans, and appropriate reporting and monitoring;

Supervise and ensure that employee(s) perform their duties as identified in their job descriptions;

Ensure ways of working and behaviors are in line with AIP Foundation’s values and policies ;

Conduct and oversee line managers in preparation and implementation of staff performance reviews; report reviews to HR;

Foster effective ongoing communication between Thailand country office staff, volunteers and other AIP Foundation staff in other countries; Recruit and hire staff, Consultants and Volunteer Advisors in consultation with HR Director & Admin Manager and CEO.

Financial Management

Be accountable for budget, resources and assets, ensuring financial controls and cost effectiveness are paramount; Coordinate with Finance Director and to prepare annual country budgets;

Responsible for financial management and fiscal administration, assuring compliance with proper accounting procedures required by law and funding sources in Thailand;

Submit monthly financial reports to the Finance Director for review and approval;

Pro-actively anticipate any potential issues, and report and present solutions to the Finance Director and Board

Ensure all program activities and events meet all stakeholder’s expectations including internal AIP Foundation standards;

Provide technical guidance for program staff in training and curriculum development activities; Identify opportunities for increasing program impacts in the community;

Report regularly on a monthly basis to AIP Foundation about progress towards organizational objectives, and other issues of concern to AIP Foundation;

Provide ad-hoc updates, information and reports upon request by Board, or other Departments including Development, Communications, M&E,

Finance and Programs in other countries within a given deadline;

Guide the work with external research partners and supervise staff in project monitoring and evaluation in consultation with M&E Manager in Vietnam;

Guide the Program team in the development of monitoring and evaluation methodologies for school based programs and public awareness campaign in consultation with M&E Manager in Vietnam;

Oversee production of reports to donors and stakeholders, ensure compliance, and supervise the Program team in report writing and timely submission, in consultation with Development department.


In coordination with CEO and Development team, develop country fundraising strategy and set priorities, goals, and budgets;

Approach potential bi-lateral, multi-lateral, foundation, investment, and corporate partners in alignment with fundraising strategy; Establish and develop excellent working relationships with key donors and partners in country;

Proactively seek new sources of funding and update CEO and Development department about identified opportunities; contribute to new fundraising ideas;

Identify opportunities to collaborate with other stakeholders and leverage resources;

Establish and strengthen working relationships with national and local governments , and stakeholders;

Create and maintain networks with appropriate celebrities and well -known personalities to support public campaigns;

Encourage the dissemination or program results with a view to influencing changes in policy to improve road safety legislation; Maintain sound relations with policy, research and advocacy specialists at national and international level;

In consultation with the Board, nurture national and local media and press networks to deliver focused campaign messages and represent the organization publicly.

Coordinate the public representation of AIP Foundation by other staff, if appropriate;

Provide input and review press releases and public statement drafted by Communications; ensure appropriateness and accuracy of messages; Other duties as assigned by the Board.


  1. General

Thailand national;

Demonstrated commitment to road safety promotion and public health work; Knowledge of traffic law and road safety interventions;

Excellent organizing, coordinating, and delegating skills; excellent presentation skills in both English and Thai;

Ability to communicate and network proficiently, relating to government officials, donors, private sectors, media and representatives from NGOs and international organizations;

Ability to articulately represent AIP Foundation mission, goals, strategies, and background.

  1. Relevant Work Experience, Formal Education, and/or Informal Training

At least 10 year experience with 3 year in similar role, preferably in road safety or development sector;

Relevant training qualification, preferably at postgraduate level in the areas of public policy, public health, social science, and education; Strong experience in supervision and staff management; at least 3 years of experience supervising staff.

Critical and long-range thinking in problem analysis;

Confident to assume major program decision-making and program leadership responsibilities.

  1. Language and Computer Skills

Excellent in written and spoken skill ls in both Thai and English are essential; strong familiarity with specialized, field-related terminology; Computer proficiency in word processing, ability to type in both language

Program Cycle Duties

Develop annual program objectives for AIP Foundation in Thailand and coordinate overall program planning to meet objectives;

Coordinate overall design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting of AIP Foundation program activities in Thailand, in compliance with donor’s requirements and AIP Foundation’s organizational procedures;

Lead the entire program through PME cycle; guide Program/Project Managers and Officers through PME cycles; use AIP Foundation databases, as required;
