PLEIKU CITY, Gia Lai – March 22, 2025

AIP Foundation, in partnership with Prudential Vietnam, the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training, and local partners, successfully hosted the first-ever Interprovincial Road Safety Day, celebrating five years of the Safe Steps Kids – Road Safety program in Vietnam. The event gathered over 500 students, parents, teachers, and officials from Gia Lai, Quang Ngai, and Yen Bai provinces.

Interprovincial Road Safety Day empowers young students in Vietnam

Seven project schools convened at Pleiku Children’s House for a day of engaging activities, highlighted by a competitive gameshow where students demonstrated their road safety knowledge. After three rounds of challenges—Warm-up, Overcoming Obstacles, and Reaching the Finish Line—the team from Việt Thành Primary & Secondary School claimed the title of “Super Junior Road Safety Champions.” The event also showcased student-led initiatives promoting safe road behaviors.

Beyond the competition, attendees explored interactive road safety games and an immersive VR experience featuring Gumball from The Amazing World of Gumball, supported by 40 Prudential Vietnam volunteers.

“The National Traffic Safety Committee highly values the commitment of the Prudence Foundation and Prudential Vietnam, as well as AIP Foundation’s strong leadership and coordination with local authorities. The Safe Steps Kids – Road Safety program delivers a meaningful message—creating safer school environments reduces traffic injuries while instilling lifelong road safety awareness in children,” said Mr. Lê Kim Thành, Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC).

A sustainable regional program for road safety

The Safe Steps Kids – Road Safety program is part of the SAFE STEPS KIDS program, developed by the Prudence Foundation in partnership with Cartoon Network and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC). The program aims to equip millions of children across Asia with actionable information designed to save lives in the event of emergencies or disaster situations. To date, the program has been deployed in Asia, in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Since 2020, the project has reached over 15,000 students, 580 teachers, and thousands of parents across 23 schools in six provinces, increasing helmet use from 42% to 78% and improving school zone safety based on iRAP standards. The success of this event reaffirms AIP Foundation’s commitment to ensuring every child’s journey to school is safe.
