KAMPONG CHAM, Province – December 23, 2022

As part of the World Day of Remembrance, the Heads-Up project – a regional helmet safety awareness-raising initiative implemented by AIP Foundation and supported by the FIA – joined hands with Cambodia’s National Road Safety Committee (NRSC) and Automobile Association of Cambodia on 23 December 2021 to distribute 600 quality helmets to high-risk youth and vulnerable people in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. The event was originally delayed due to the Covid-19 situation across Cambodia.

The ceremony marked a milestone in Cambodia’s commitment to improving quality helmet use with the distribution of United Nations-standard ECE-22.05 helmets donated by the FIA as part of its global Safe and Affordable Helmet Initiative. In addition to the distribution of helmets, students and other participants received educational materials conveying quality helmet use practices in order to reinforce proper helmet behaviors during and after the event.

“We believe this distribution was an important first step in further strengthening local helmet standards in Cambodia; more specifically, by raising awareness on the benefits of introducing the ECE-22.05 helmet model as a regional standard for helmet safety,” said Mr. Pagna Kim, Cambodia Country Director of AIP Foundation.
