June 11, 2021

SONGKHLA, Thailand – June 11, 2021

June is gearing up to be an extraordinary month for students, teachers, parents, and staff at Woranari Chaloem School in Songkhla province. Not only is the school celebrating its 100th anniversary later this month, but it has also recently become the first secondary school in Thailand to join the Chevron Street Wise program.

The Chevron Street Wise Program was introduced to the school Director, followed by a warm discussion of proposed guidelines for the implementation of road safety activities. Chevron Thailand and AIP Foundation representatives excitedly welcomed the Director’s decision where Woranari Chaloem School became the 12th project school in this area, highlighting the unwavering commitment of official local authorities to increase road safety throughout the province.

Mr. Anan Phudgate shared, “Woranari Chaloem School gives precedence to be a school of excellence and happiness for teachers and students. The Chevron Street Wise program will be a great benefit to the quality of life of students because they are teenagers who mainly use motorcycles. The problem we encounter is driving fast and violating traffic rules. This project will be a gift for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Woranari Chaloem School this year.” A community of 3550 students, 300 teachers, 4000 parents at his school will join the Chevron Street Wise program, receiving life-saving road safety training that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Chevron Thailand has partnered with AIP Foundation since 2015 to implement the Chevron Street Wise program to create a safer environment for road users especially young children through education, awareness-raising, and stakeholder and community engagement. The project has benefited more than 30,000 children, parents, teachers, and community members who have demonstrated improved road safety knowledge and skills.
