World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDoR) 2017 was held on 19 November, 2017. To commemorate the more than 1.25 million people who die on the world’s roads every year, we participated in activations across our program countries. In Vietnam, our team joined local government officials to visit the families of seven road crash victims killed or seriously injured due to road crashes in Ho Chi Minh City. During the visit, 60 quality helmets were donated to victim’s families under the Safety Delivered program, which sponsored by The UPS Foundation. In Hanoi, AIP Foundation sponsored a group of marathon runners to participate in a community event, “Run for a Safer Road,” which was held in honor of World Day of Remembrance and those who have passed away from road crashes.

In Thailand, our Country Manager and two Legal Development Program members, participated in an event organized by the Road Safety Directing Center and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Bangkok. The convening brought together road safety advocates for a panel discussion.

The theme for this year’s World Day of Remembrance was “2020 Target: Reduce Road Fatalities and Serious Injuries by 50%.” Events were held around the world in support of this important day and to bring attention to the devastating impact of road crashes.
